The idea struck me during my studies in visual communication: a book composed entirely of symbolic illustrations. How could I intertwine symbolism and fairy tales in a visually compelling way? The result was an illustrated book where each character has a meaning, analyzed through the lens of psychoanalytic interpretations of fairy tales. This approach allowed me to craft illustrations that brought the story to life.
For the experimental piece, I chose the Brothers Grimm’s adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood. The story’s widespread familiarity provided a solid foundation to explore my ideas, allowing me to later extend the experiment to other tales (both well-known and lesser-known) from European folklore and beyond.
